Jamia Milia Islamia to set up a new chair

A new chair will be set up at Jamia Milia Islamia to study the cultural heritage of the countries outside India.

New Delhi: A new chair will be set up in Jamia Milia Islamia to study the cultural heritage of countries outside India. The purpose of establishing this chair is to disseminate information about the cultural heritage of countries outside the geographical boundaries. University Chancellor Dr. Najma Heptullah said, "The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen the excellent cultural relations generated by deep links between India and Asian countries."

Chancellor and Vice Chancellor took a decision in the important meeting,
an official of Jamia Milia Islamia said that beyond the Indian subcontinent, establishing a chair for the study of the cultural heritage of the country. In this regard, the decision was taken during a meeting of Jamia Vice Chancellor Tatt Ahmed and representatives of Nehru Center, North Eastern Studies and Policy Research Center at his residence in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Jamia Chancellor Dr. Najma Heptullah.

Chair's aim is to promote research on the postings of country's cultural heritage in Asian countries beyond geographical boundaries. The University will organize workshops in the coming days to study the historical role of India and Indian civilization and related economic and cultural relations. The spread of Indian culture, trade, commerce, philosophy, customs, religious practices and beliefs vary from Afghanistan to entire South Asia and especially to Myanmar, Mongolia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Japan. University VC Pro. Tatt Ahmed told that Jamia Millia Islamia Center for North East Studies is discussing various dimensions related to various policies. In the coming time, the North Eastern Council will give suggestions.

The University will organize a workshop on 'Impact of India and Indian Civilization on Other Civilizations' in the coming times.
