Education will not be expensive from GST: Government

New Delhi: The government clarified that education under GST will not be expensive. The reason for this is the relaxation given to school education till Higher Secondary. With this, most of the services related to educational institutions are also exempted in GST.

In an official statement rejecting the report of education being declared expensive, it has been stated that the Mid Day Mill scheme in education institutions along with safety, sanitation services have also been exempted from GST till Higher Secondary.

Also, admission to higher secondary and the services related to the examination were also exempted from GST.

According to the statement of the Finance Ministry, there has been no change in any subject related to education under GST. In contrast, tax rates on education related things like school basta have been reduced.
